Our Approach to Your Health

At NICC's we recognize the benefit of a multidisciplinary approach to your health.  We will treat you as an individual, balancing the many different branches of healthcare in order to optimize your overall health.  The balance of western and alternative medicine will look different for every patient.  Your plan of care will promote health and wellness in your life by treating the conditions you are experiencing while simultaneously learning how to live a life that optimizes the function of your body and positively impact how you feel.

Western Medicine

We are trained in Western Medicine and we have seen the benefit and value of treating illness with pharmacological interventions.  We use evidence-based research to help manage illness and prevent adverse health outcomes with medications.  Our goal is to promote healthy lifestyles and keep you in good health so you don't need many medications.  But when you are ill and need treatment we will help you find what works best for you.

Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine requires a deep understanding of human physiology and how our biology is impacted from the food we eat, our environmental exposures, medications we take, etc.  We will individualize each patients care to their needs by altering diet, supplement intake, physical exercise, etc to optimize the specific function of our body systems.  This can be done to treat chronic illness, stay healthy, and prevent illness.

Holistic Medicine

We believe that humans are created as complex beings.  Our physical, mental, and spiritual health all impact how we feel and how we live our lives.  We will treat you as a whole person and look into all of these aspects when treating you.  The plan of care that you and your provider agree on will promote health in each area.  We will also look at your social and environmental exposures and how they impact your health and wellness.

Naturopathic Medicine

Natural options that help promote wellness can include massage, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, herbs/ supplements, and more.  Often patients will experience better health outcomes if natural therapies are included in their plan of care.  These are options that typically have minimal side effects and can compliment the other treatment approaches.  There are many experts who specialize in Naturopathic Medicine who we can refer you to if you desire a more in-depth approach.
